Delegation from European Union gets Insights of Settlement Improvement Initiatives

On September 2, 2024, The World Bank Pakistan facilitated a meeting between the European Union Delegation in Pakistan and the European Investment Bank at the SPHF office. The purpose of the meeting was to brief the delegation on the monumental task being undertaken by SPHF in constructing 2.1million houses for those impacted by the floods of 2022 and to explore opportunities for collaboration in the housing and allied facilities that SPHF is working on, including WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and settlement improvement initiatives. On September 19, 2024, SHRRP conducted a session titled “Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs to Lead Innovation for Resilience”. Experts shared insights on entrepreneurship and innovation, covering topics from building sustainable businesses to harnessing creativity. Prof. Dr. Tanweer Hussain, Director ORIC - MUET, warmly welcomes all participants and encourages students to embrace self-employment as a pathway to success. Mrs. Tahira Sadia, Technical Lead for Settlement Planning, presented the SHRRP vision, objectives, four pillars, and their connection to entrepreneurship. Training on Understanding Policy Approaches to Climate-Resilience Recovery in Sindh


On September 30, 2024, The Sindh Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (SHRRP) conducted a transformative training session on policy approaches to climate-resilient recovery in Sindh, hosted by Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University (SABSU). The lead trainer, Mr. Munib Ali Faridi, an Environment Specialist, guided participants in understanding climate resilience, enhancing their policy knowledge, and exploring adaptation and mitigation strategies, as well as fostering collaborative solutions. Rebuilding Hope: Laddo’s Journey from Crisis to Stability with Muslim Aid's Support


Laddo, a widow who lost her husband 17 years ago, living in village Nazar Muhammad Baloch, Sanghar, Sindh. She has been the sole provider for her three children while facing financial struggles, which worsened after a major flood in 2022 damaged their home. With no means to rebuild, Laddo found it increasingly difficult to care for her family. Muslim Aid intervened during this crisis, offering vital support, including shelter, which enabled Laddo to rebuild her home. This assistance significantly improved their living situation, bringing stability and reducing daily stress. While Laddo's life has improved, her story underscores the critical role of humanitarian organizations like Muslim Aid in providing both immediate relief and ongoing support for families to regain long-term stability.
