Many thanks for sharing the details. Cold and damp weather pose unique challenges for individuals with physical disabilities and conditions like arthritis. These individuals are particularly
vulnerable due to their reduced mobility and difficulty in self-care. These conditions increase their exposure to the cold and amplify their discomfort and health risks.
As a reminder of our feedback on the winterization strategy below,
- Thermal blankets: Essential for providing adequate warmth, especially for those who struggle to
regulate body temperature or remain mobile.
- Adaptable stoves: Designed for accessibility, these stoves can empower individuals with physical
limitations to safely and independently manage their heating and cooking needs.
Attached is a formula sheet highlighting the percentage of individuals with difficulties in walking and self-care based on our conversation this morning during the meeting. The formulas are
set, and if you cannot find the population or data in any cell, just put in the data, and it will provide you with the percentage. We understand that the winterization kits are already committed and might not have the required disability-inclusive items, but
it will help plan for the future.
